Creich and Flisk Resilience Group - March 2024
At the Community Council meeting held on 25 October 2023, terms of reference were accepted for a sub-group of the Community Council: the Creich and Flisk Resilience Group. You can see summary reports of the sub-group HERE.
The Aims of the Sub Group are to:
- Develop, maintain, and test a community resilience plan.
- Seek to influence the prevention of flooding in the community.
- Represent the views of the flood risk community.
- Identify potential flood risks and work with all responsible authorities to minimize the risks of flooding.
- Liaise with the Scottish Flood Forum and other relevant bodies including but not limited to Officers of Fife Council, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland and any other relevant bodies on matters relating to resilience within the Creich and Flisk Community Council area.
- Make recommendations to Creich and Flisk CC on resilience and flooding matters.
Community Resilience Plan
Volunteers will undertake as far as possible to:
- Provide useful information to the local community.
- Monitor local flooding incidents, noting issues contributing to them and the conditions helping to reduce their impact.
- Help those identified as in need to deploy their defences e.g. sandbags.
- Respond to public enquiries.
- Maintain drainage in their own specific area e.g. soak aways, drains, cundies, in a way that reduces the chances of flooding.
- Report areas of concern to the relevant authorities e.g. drains, roads, sewage and flood, to aid their resilience planning.
- Represent the views of the flood risk community in liaison with the relevant authorities.

Scottish Environmental Protection Agency Flood (SEPA) Flood line warnings: What do they mean?
Flood Alert: covers a whole region = Look out for any upgrade in their warnings. Check your flood measures are readied, working and to hand.
Flood Warning: covers a community area = Be ready to employ any flood measures. If necessary, contact those who are standing-in for you.
Severe Flood Warning: Immediate Action required.
