Winter Roads Maintenance

Clicking on the title will take you to the appropriate section of the Fifedirect website detailing their response to adverse winter weather conditions. The Council has a statutory responsibility to take appropriate action to prevent snow and ice endangering the safe passage of pedestrians and vehicles over public roads. The roads in Creich and Flisk are designated as Primary Routes and should be gritted within 3 hours of starting such operations. In very severe snow the Council will clear main routes such as the A92 as a priority before moving on to deal with Primary Routes. Grit bins are located on Fliskmillan Brae and there are also two in Brunton. It should be noted that a grit drop (in one tonne bags) may be requested by an elected member of the Community Council to assist local communities efforts in clearing minor roads and footpaths.

Fife Coastal Path

Clicking on the title will link you to the official website for the Fife Coastal Path. The Fife Coastal Path is a popular walking route around Fife which has developed over a number of years. Part of the newest section, running from Newport-on-Tay to Newburgh, passes through our Community Council Area. From Newport the Path initially follows the coast but due to difficult topography along the River Tay beyond Balmerino the route passes more inland and uphill to Hazelton Walls before heading West through Creich and skirting Brunton and the main hill in this area (Norman's Law). This is a very scenic area of great landscape amenity which offers a superb contrast to the more coastal sections. The Coastal Path will rejoin the Tay close to Newburgh. This link to the Fife Coastal Path official website will give more details and although way markers have been erected along this part of the route the map for this section remains to be finalised.
